Qaddafi is Dead

The problem now is what to do with his body.

From: Libyan Leaders Appear to Differ Over Qaddafi Burial - NYT

But the conflicting reports about the plans for Colonel Qaddafi’s burial reflected some of the chaos and confusion that have impeded the Transitional National Council as it has struggled to unify the country since Colonel Qaddafi was toppled from power by bands of competing rebel militias who invaded the capital Tripoli in late August.

What's next for Libya?

More likely then not, Libya will descend into a fundamentalist Islamic Terror State.

Next door in Egypt, the military never surrendered power when Mubarak fell. While Egypt has managed to keep from blowing completely apart due to the Egyptian Military's ability to maintain it's authority, Libya will have no similar restraint.

Chaos will reign.

Who Is Rashad Hussain?

*
Daveed Gartenstein-Ross at the Long War Journal offers a first hand account of the Rashad Hussain of his acquaintance.

See: A defense of Rashad Hussain

It is worth reading.

Personally, I do not think that Islam is redeemable. That does not mean that it is necessary or even in our interests to treat all Muslims as terrorist. Most if not nearly all of them are just people like you and me. Their religion may separate us but we do not have to be bound by the doctrines of their religion.

Many Muslims believe that it is possible to have a "peaceful" Islam. They may be right. It is up these believers in a peaceful Islam to demonstrate to us how it could be.

If Rashad can show us an Islam that can be unlike the Islam that we have come to know, I am willing to give him that opertunity.

I fear that the Qur'an and the Hadith make such hopes impossible, but we can give him the bennifit of the doubt and accept for the moment that he really believes it to be possible.

Vectrasauris is back.

I have been busy. (Distracted really.)

Now I am back.

The Lizard King at that other site has proven himself to be more of an ass than I could stomach.

Fie upon him.

May he go deaf in that horrible echo chamber of sophomoric and sycophantic blatherings of his own creation.

Diplomatic Sharia

Evidence that Muslims feel that it is right and appropriate to impose their Religious Law and Customs on foreigners living in foreign countries.

The Jordanian farcical charges against Geert Wilders is meant to chill the debate about Islam. If Jordan can swear out charges against Geert Wilders, they can swear out charges against anybody. Even you. Of Course, its not like any of the European Countries or the US would turn over any one so charge to an Islamic court like the one in Jordan, at least, not yet.

~~~
AMMAN (Reuters) - A Jordanian prosecutor on Tuesday charged Dutch politician Geert Wilders with blasphemy and contempt of Muslims for making an anti-Koran film and ordered him to stand trial in the kingdom, judicial sources said.
In Riyadh, the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), a league of 56 Muslim nations, said it was "deeply annoyed" after Dutch prosecutors said on Monday they would not take action against Wilders as he was protected by the right to free speech.
"The decision ... encourages and supports the irresponsible defamatory style followed by some media outlets and instigates feelings of hatred, animosity and antipathy towards Muslims," the Saudi Arabia-based OIC, said in a statement.
"I taught that suicide attacks are legitimate under Islam."
*
Sometimes, you just have to take these people at their word.
~~~
The suspected nucleus of the network, janitor-turned-street preacher Benyettou, told the court the case against him was "fantasy" and an affront to his freedom of speech. He told the judge he had served only as a friendly ear to young people in his neighborhood, answering questions about Islam that went ignored by France's secular schools and institutions.

In one interrogation session with anti-terrorist agents, however, Benyettou said: "I taught that suicide attacks are legitimate under Islam."

"Jihad is justified," he said in another session in the days following his January 2005 arrest, according to the depositions viewed by The Associated Press.
